The version number here is out of date! It's now at 1.9.4.

This is a great plugin. Been using it for as long as I remember back in classic Mac OS. The latest version does work with Photoshop 2015 and on 64-bit Macs.

AND my original registration still works. Like others have said, it hadn't worked in a while, and I no longer had it installed. So it was a pleasant surprise to see it's still registered. Same with their other plugins I had bought back in the day.

BladePro no longer works on 64 bit Macs. Yet Flaming Pear continues to sell it and say it works with "OS 10.3.9 OR LATER". Flaming Pear either needs to update their obsolete products or stop selling them to unwary customers. Besides, it's nothing but a Photoshop plugin. And now that you can only RENT Photoshop (which costs more than my monthly cable TV bill!), Photoshop plugins are simply a further waste of money. Fortunately, there are much better & much less expensive stand-alone FX apps available on MacUpdate, the AppStore & elsewhere. When I upgraded to 64 bit I started using ArtText, a stand-alone app that costs half as much, does way more than Blade Pro & is way easier to use. There is even a very useful free version available on the AppStore. Besides many amateur-level FX apps, there are also many more useful stand-alone FX collections, ranging from the very reasonably-priced JixiPix, to the very costly Filter Forge. Then, of course, there's always the amazing Gimp, the entirely free open-source alternative to Photoshop. Version 2.8 has even more available plugins than Photoshop (including many Ps doesn't have). Gimp continues to astonish me with all that it can do. As Photoshop gets more out of reach for most people (even many professionals), Gimp is becoming more popular, more powerful and easier to use. Finally, for high-level professional photographic editing, there are several choices, including two great free open-source apps that rival Aperture or Lightroom. My favorite is LightZone, which is not only quite powerful, but also fast, easy to use & very stable. Photivo allows a little finer control but is also a little harder to use.

I wish somebody would rescue this formerly wonderful plugin -- I haven't been able to get it working in ages -- is there any hope for its resuscitation?

Until SuperBladePro is upgraded for 64 bit compatibility in Photoshop CS5, an upgrade is just not feasible, in my opinion.

I used this software back in the 90s. It was quite good. It is hard not to think that it has grown somewhat stagnant. I mean, the website still has the same look that it did in the 90s. I would've expected an interface re-think by the time Photoshop 5 came out. If you're going to spend this much for a plugin, might as well get a full app like ArtText, which has a nice interface and better presets. Faming Pear really needs to come up with some new software.
